Foundation Accomplishments

1977 
Foundation established with $65,000 seed gift from Owens Country Sausage, Inc.

 

1978 
Foundation officially incorporated. Original seed gift of $65,000 and other charitable gifts, including a $1 million gift from the B. B. Owen Trust, helped fund construction of the hospital’s Campbell Road facility

 

1982  
Completed a $2.5 million capital campaign in support of a $15.4 million expansion project, doubling the size of the hospital

 

1988 
Began a $1.6 million “Labor of Love” campaign to help renovate and reconstruct the hospital's Obstetrics Unit, which was completed in 1990

 

1993 
Conducted a one-year campaign benefiting the development of the Cancer Center and providing funds to buy a patient van for use by the Cancer Center

 

1995 
Began a $250,000 campaign to establish the Center for Women’s Health, which was completed and opened in 1996

 

1997 
Conducted the one-year $300,000 “Care for a Lifetime” campaign to assist with the renovation/enlargement of the Senior Health Center, to establish an endowment fund for the Center for Women’s Health Library, and to provide funds for advanced technology

 

1998 
Conducted a one-year campaign to support the expansion of surgical facilities and the purchase of neurosurgical technology

 

1999
Commenced the three-year $1.2 million “It’s Time To Have A Big Heart!” campaign to expand cardiac services, including the addition of a cardiac catheterization lab, cardiopulmonary department, and an open heart surgery program

 

Established the Planned Giving Program and the Heritage Society

 

2002
Initiated raising $500,000 for the Lance Armstrong Shaped Beam Surgery™ program at the Cancer Center

 

2004
Established the first Wild Ride! Bike Rally, attracting 970 riders and raising $85,000 net for the Lance Armstrong Shaped Beam Surgery™ program at the Cancer Center

 

2005
Commenced the quiet phase of the “Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word” capital campaign, raising $2.2 million by the end of 2006

 

2006
Continued quiet phase of the "Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word" capital campaign, raising $2.2 million by the end of 2006

 

2007

Publicly announced the launch of the "Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word" capital campaign raising $2.8 million by the end of 2007

 

Established the Grateful Patient Program

 

Received $1 million challenge grant from the Rees-Jones Foundation for the capital campaign

 

2008

Completed the "Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word" capital campaign, the hospital's largest-ever fundraising effort, grossing over $5 million for the new Cancer Center

 

Hosted annual gala resulting in gross revenue of nearly $300,000, the highest grossing gala event in hospital history

 

WildRide! Against Cancer listed in the top 25 highest grossing revenue for 2007 fundraising events in the Dallas Metroplex by Dallas Business Journal (published December 19, 2008). Ranked 21st for raising $141,000.

 

Implemented Restaurant Nights, a new community fundraising program that allows diners to support the hospital while enjoying a taste of Richardson.
