The Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation announced plans for the 2010 Yellow & Black Tie Gala at a kick-off party on May 27. Lee Nagel, returning as Gala Chair for a second year, unveiled this year’s theme, “A Harvest of Hope." The Yellow & Black Tie Gala benefiting Methodist Richardson Cancer Center is set for Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel.
“We’re bringing it back to Richardson," said Lee, a cancer survivor. “We have many exciting plans for the Gala, including a raffle drawing for a Super Bowl package. Hopefully the Cowboys will be playing!"
The raffle tickets cost $100 and only 1,000 will be sold. The package includes two tickets to the 2011 Super Bowl, a suite at the Renaissance in Richardson, all meals, and luxury transportation to and from the game.
Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel and his wife Pat were introduced as this year’s honorary gala chairs. The Slagels, who lost a daughter to cancer, expressed their support for the mission of the Cancer Center.
“We know this is such an important part of the community," said Gary Slagel. “We’ve all been touched by cancer, and we want to do what we can to help. It’s quite an honor to be a part of the Gala."
As a party favor to go along with the theme “A Harvest of Hope," each guest received yellow daisies donated by Fallas Landscaping in Plano to plant in their gardens at home.
“It will be a way to remember what we are all trying to do as a community – grow hope to fight cancer," said Lee.
Guests also had the opportunity to sign messages of hope on the unfinished walls of a future treatment room at the Cancer Center.
