Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation Will Host November 6 Gala to Raise Money for Cancer Center

(June 4, 2010) - The Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation announced plans for the 2010 Yellow & Black Tie Gala at a kick-off party on May 27. Lee Nagel, returning as Gala Chair for a second year, unveiled this year's theme, "A Harvest of Hope." The Yellow & Black Tie Gala benefiting Methodist Richardson Cancer Center is set for Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel.

“We’re bringing it back to Richardson," said Lee, a cancer survivor. “We have many exciting plans for the Gala, including a raffle drawing for a Super Bowl package. Hopefully the Cowboys will be playing!"

The raffle tickets cost $100 and only 1,000 will be sold. The package includes two tickets to the 2011 Super Bowl, a suite at the Renaissance in Richardson, and luxury transportation to and from the game.

Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel and his wife Pat were introduced as this year’s honorary gala chairs. The Slagels, who lost a daughter to cancer, expressed their support for the mission of the Cancer Center.

“We know this is such an important part of the community," said Gary Slagel. “We’ve all been touched by cancer, and we want to do what we can to help. It’s quite an honor to be a part of the Gala."

As a party favor to go along with the theme “A Harvest of Hope," each guest received yellow daisies donated by Fallas Landscaping in Plano to plant in their gardens at home.

"It will be a way to remember what we are all trying to do as a community -- grow hope to fight cancer," said Lee.

Last year’s gala was attended by more than 500 area civic and business leaders from Collin and Dallas counties and grossed nearly $275,000 for the Cancer Center. The Yellow & Black Tie Gala will feature a cocktail reception, seated dinner, live entertainment and live and silent auctions. Sponsorships, tables of 10, and individual gala tickets, which cost $150 each, are available by calling the Foundation at 972-498-7678. All sponsorships receive recognition in the Gala program and other promotional opportunities. For more details, visit www.yellowandblacktiegala.com.
