Visitors

Friends and family are welcome, as their presence is an important part of the healing process. Due to patients’ special health care needs, Labor/Delivery, Intensive Care Unit and the Mental Health Unit observe a more limited visiting schedule.

Hospital Visiting Hours
8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily

Labor/Delivery Unit
The first visit with baby is a special time for new parents to experience the joy of being a new family.  During this time, other family and friends will be asked to wait in the waiting room (just outside of Women’s Services) for 10 to 15 minutes, or until requested to return. We ask that visitors:

• Obtain permission from the L&D Nurse
• Are limited to two
• Do not wait in the L&D hallway
• Do not bring children, other than the family’s own, who are under the age of 12, to the patient’s room. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Intensive Care Unit
A waiting room for family and friends is located on the 3rd floor outside of the ICU. We request that visitors to the room are limited to two family members.

• 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Mental Health Unit

• Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Weekends from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• No purses or handbags are allowed on unit
• Visitors are limited to two
• Visitors must have a patient identification number
• Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the unit.

General Visitor Information

Valet
Complimentary valet parking is offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except holidays). Valet parking is available at the entrance of Medical Plaza I and Medical Plaza II.

ATM
An Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is available in the hospital’s main lobby, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Newspapers
Daily newspapers are located for sale outside the doors of the Hospital’s main lobby. A complimentary copy of Quick, provided by the Dallas Morning News, is available for each patient.

Restrooms
Public restrooms are located on each floor of the hospital. To ensure the privacy of our patients, we ask that your visitors use only the public restrooms rather than the one in the patient’s room. Baby changing stations are located in restrooms in the hospital’s main lobby and Medical Plaza.

Mailboxes
U. S. Postal boxes are located outside the doors of the Hospital’s main lobby. Pick-up times are Monday through Friday at 1 p.m.

Vending
A vending area with a change machine and microwave oven is located in the hospital’s main lobby and is accessible 24 hours a day. Snack and beverage machines also are located in the surgery waiting room (2nd floor) and in the Medical Plaza’s conference center.

Methodist Richardson has special preferred rates at many local hotels for your family or out-of-town guests.
